Q 1. Can you describe your business?
Tadg Riordan Motors opened their first Toyota dealership in 1983 in Ashbourne, Co Meath by Tadg and Gaye Riordan. Over the years we have built our Dealership from a staff of 3 to a current staff of over 40, it is now one of the largest Toyota Dealerships in the country. The majority of our staff are from the Ashbourne area, and we are delighted and proud to bring employment to Ashbourne. In Tadg Riordan Motors we provide Sales for both new Toyota vehicles along with a huge range of Assured Used Cars. We have a state of the art service department under the watchful eye of Dermot the Service Manager. A parts department that delivers locally and nationwide and have been awarded Toyota Parts Dealer of the year for the past two years. When accidents occur our award winning Bodyshop is here to help and will repair all vehicles no matter how big or small a job.
Q 2. What are the advantages of being located in Ashbourne?
Ashbourne is an ideal location to be situated due to the continually increasing population, the thriving business scene and the demographic of habitants in the Ashbourne area. We are also ideally located being so close to Dublin’s M50 and other growing commuter towns.

I believe our customers choose to deal with Tadg Riordan Motors due to our professionalism, our dedication to and knowledge of our product and the many years we have worked hard to build our reputation and expertise which has earned us the trust of our many returning and new customer base.
Q 4. How do you add value to your customer’s wants and needs?
We rely on lifetime value from our customers so improving our service to add value and meet their needs is at the forefront of our business strategy. We achieve this through after sales surveys, followed up by a call from our Customer Experience Executive. We can then adjust or improve on any aspect of the experience the customer has relayed to us where needed.
Q 5. Do you have any future plans or promotions coming up?
Our current focus is a Showroom upgrade which will bring a state of the art "Toyota Concept" showroom to Ashbourne. The aim is to give the viewing and consultation areas a modern look and focus on reducing the use of paper in the office to a minimum. We run Monthly competitions along with longer term promotions, at present we're running a 0% Finance offer on selected used vehicles. This offer could potentially save a customer hundreds of Euro off the price of their new used vehicle.
Q 6. Any recommendations on how to improve Ashbourne Chamber of Commerce?
Getting people to shop/buy local is key for the continual growth of all businesses in the local community. Informing people about the benefits of shopping local is key. SuperValu ran a very intelligent ad campaign about the benefits of shopping local for the past number of years. It detailed the number of local jobs are created, the improvement in the economy etc. Getting the information out to the local public is vital in growing local businesses.
Q 7. Any advice for new businesses starting up?
Research – Have complete product knowledge of the goods/service. Know your competitors if applicable. Take your time in brainstorming, who is your target market and what could go wrong and how will you solve it.
Location – Be located where you need to be. This maybe both physically or online. If you’re not seen by potential customers, you’re wasting your time and more importantly, your money.
Business Plan - After you’ve taken the time to answer questions about your business or product idea, put together a concrete business plan. A business plan will help ensure your business goes in the exact direction you want it by detailing your strategies, financial projections and be sure to include an executive summary.
